PC Parallel Port Data Capture

The Silent Hawk XE captures the data stream as it is sent to your printer. This provides the ability to print hardcopy output required for your operation while creating an electronic version of your data for real-time or batch processing. This eliminates errors created when re-keying data needed for later processing. Applications include: Manufacturing routing documents, shippers/manifests, medical documentation, lab equipment output processing, security logs, purchase order & A/P auditing, records archiving, data conversion from legacy system, etc.

The Silent Hawk SE provides the same features as the Silent Hawk XE but eliminates the hardcopy output (i.e. paperless printing). This is accomplished by having a Null Printer built into the Silent Hawk Data Capture Unit (DCU). Your Printer is not needed. Eliminates the consumption of costly consumables and reduces the time required to capture the data.

Ethernet Data Transmission

The Silent Hawk XE & SE transmit captured data over ethernet to a PC running our Silent Hawk E Server Application. The PC can be connect directly to a Silent Hawk DCU via crossover cable, or multiple DCUs via your LAN, WAN, or even the Internet. One Server can receive data from up to 100 Silent Hawk DCUs.

Automatic File Segmentation (AFS)

Automatic File Segmentation stores your captured data into separate files. Capture data is separated into files (segmented) in real-time, as it is being captured. Data is segmented based on settings you specify in a "script" file. Some segmentation options include:

• Start Of File (SOF) - Segments data right before an ASCII or hex string.
• End Of File (EOF) - Segments data just after receiving an ASCII or hex string.
• SOF with Line Delimiter - Allows SOF segmentation to occur at a page boundary.
• Clock - Segments data at specific times, up to four times a day.
• Periodic - Segments data every "user specified" number of minutes.

Reliable: Never Loses Data

While the capturing PC keeps up with the print data rate, data capture is non-intrusive; it does not interfere with print operations. If the capturing PC falls behind, the Silent Hawk DCU slows the data transfer. Data is never lost!

Simple and Easy to Install

Each Silent Hawk comes complete with connecting cables, crossover and patch ethernet cables, AC/DC adaptor, and Quick Start Guide. All you need is an IBM Compatible PC running Windows 98 or later with an ethernet card and the Silent Hawk E Server Application.

Interface Signal Monitoring

LEDs on the front panel of the Silent Hawk DCU display the state of the Centronics interface and DCU. This provides the user a positive visual indication of the state of the data capture system.

What is the difference between the Silent Hawk I & II, the Silent Hawk XE & SE, and the Silent Hawk YE & TE?

All Silent Hawk DCUs capture data sent over the parallel port. The Silent Hawk I & II connect to the "Capture PC" via parallel port. The Silent Hawk XE, SE, YE, & TE connect to the "Capture PC" via Ethernet. The Silent Hawk XE & SE capture data at a sustained rate of up to 50 KBytes/Sec., while the Silent Hawk YE & TE capture data at a sustained rate of up to 200 KBytes/Sec. If you need to capture to a DOS or Win95 based PC, you should order the Silent Hawk I or II. If you need to capture data at a sustained data rate in excess of 50 KBytes/Sec., you should order the Silent Hawk I, II, YE, or TE. If you need the "Capture PC" to run Windows 2000 or XP, you should order the Silent Hawk XE, SE, YE, or TE. You can connect up to three Silent Hawk I/IIs to one capture PC. (Each requires a seperate parallel port.) You can connect up to 100 Silent Hawk XE/SE/YE/TEs to one PC running the Server Application.
