Silent Hawk I - Centronics Parallel Data Capture System
|
The Silent Hawk I captures the data stream as it is sent to your printer. This provides the ability to print the hardcopy output required for your operation while creating an electronic version of your data for real-time or batch processing. This eliminates errors created when re-keying data needed for later processing. Applications include: Manufacturing routing documents, shippers & manifests, medical documentation, lab equipment output processing, security logs, purchase orders & A/P auditing, records archiving, data conversion from legacy system, etc.
The Silent Hawk II provides the same features as the Silent Hawk I but eliminates the hardcopy output (i.e. paperless printing). This is accomplished by having a Null Printer built into the Silent Hawk Data Capture Unit (DCU). Your printer is not needed. This reduces the time required to capture the data as well as eliminating consumption of costly consumables.
While the capturing PC keeps up with the print data rate, data capture is non-intrusive; it does not interfere with print operations. If the capturing PC falls behind, the Silent Hawk DCU slows the data transfer. Data is never lost!
The Silent Hawk comes complete with connecting cables, AC/DC adaptor, software, and User's Guide. All you need is an IBM Compatible PC running Windows 95/98 or DOS 5.0 or later.
You can send captured or other print files to your printer with the Silent Hawk's high-speed playback feature. The achieved playback data rate is measured and reported.
LEDs on the front panel of the Silent Hawk DCU display the state of the Centronics interface. This provides the user a positive visual indication of the state of the data channel.
Additional features include custom default settings, ASCII/Hex File Viewer, and hold (stop) data transfer & bypass switches. Windows software includes an append and overwrite file option. Menu-driven software with online help provides access to all features. Telephone support is available to registered owners.
What is the difference between the Silent Hawk I & II, the Silent Hawk XE & SE, and the Silent Hawk YE & TE?
All Silent Hawk DCUs capture data sent over the parallel port.
The Silent Hawk I & II connect to the Capture PC and transmit captured data via parallel port.
The Silent Hawk XE, SE, YE, & TE connect to the Capture PC and transmit captured data via an Ethernet connection.
The Silent Hawk XE & SE capture data at a sustained rate of up to 50 KBytes/Second,
while the Silent Hawk YE & TE capture data at a sustained rate of up to 200 KBytes/Second
If you need to capture to a DOS or Windows 95 based PC, you should order a Silent Hawk I or II.
You can connect up to three Silent Hawk I/IIs to one Capture PC, however each requires a seperate parallel port.
- A Guide to configuring multiple Silent Hawk I/IIs to run on the same Capture PC can be found here.
If you need to capture to a Windows 2000 or XP based PC, you should order the Silent Hawk XE, SE, YE, or TE.
You can connect up to 100 Silent Hawk XE/SE/YE/TEs to one PC running the Server Application.
If you need to capture data at a sustained data rate in excess of 50 KBytes/Second you should order the Silent Hawk I, II, YE, or TE.
